Proving something

The worst mistakes in my life happened when I was trying to prove something.
Prove something to people who quite frankly aren't paying attention and don't care.
The greatest tragedy is all that I lost in the act of proving myself.

In stock trading the market will teach you quickly that if you think you know something, you don't. Furthermore, if you are trading to prove yourself instead of trading the chart and present market conditions you will be swiftly and thoroughly corrected. Taking one more swipe at an already extended move is never a great idea but it's one that I have done more often than I care to admit.

Staying in relationships, trades, jobs, too long. Thinking that the past is the future and it never is. This has lead to my detriment more than any other behavior or trait. I wish to spare others if I can. Timing is everything. Whether it be divine or otherwise there is a time when things line up perfectly and work, it is so tempting to want to stretch those moments out forever but unfortunately life doesn't work that way.

Feeling the need to prove something, to soothe the ego, to say that it is so when it quite obviously is not. Is a point of ego and pride that can cost a person dearly. Prove that I am important and worthy of something other than neglect and abandonment. Sounds deep but on some level that is what it is right? To be a 'chosen one', a 'winner', so many are willing to give up so much. Their morals, their soul, for access that comes from money and power to prove their worth to some unseen "They". And so we are placed in these life experiences and a society with narrative and messaging pounded into heads for hours, days, years, decades. Until even the most stoic soul feels the need to measure up to it. This belief comes with us into a trade, into a relationship or the work environment. Leading to underlying fears that many people may not even be conscious of, however, it's there making the decision with us.

So in the moment, are you trying to prove something, or are you acting as a clear channel of the events as they unfold before you?

Are you looking at the truth or your preferred possibility? What were the differences between fact and fantasy?

What are the signs telling you, really?

It is a good practice to take inventory not just about who you want to be, but who you actually are in any given moment of decision. The more accurately we are able to be present to meet the moment of decision at that time the more successfully we we manage that moment. It can mean everything.

Until next time...
