This Haiku was originally published by Yahoo! Contributor Network in August of 2011.

Desert summer heat
crushes the will of its prey,
like a snake--no mercy.

Saline Dream

Ma mère Nature flows through frame
Of reference
Her fluid beauty burns saline soul healing.
Drowning in her embrace is warm.
Memory of salty love hangs on bedroom wall.

Gun violence hurts: The tale of two moms

The Newtown Mom

Picture

Joyous Christmas lights red and

green blur to  squad car red and

blue.

Redwashed bloody weeps,

Oh no, please God, it can’t be

true!

Sirens scream, broken dreams.

Twenty-seven down.

It is twenty-seven more.

But who’s keeping score?

When bullets fly, and our babies die, it hurts just a little more.

Bullets’ deeds can’t be undone once unleashed from the Bushmaster’s gun.

Don’t believe me?  I am not the only one. Ask a mother from Newtown.

The Chicago Mom

Picture

She didn’t make a body,

This is her baby,

She pours her life into her son

Stays up late at night worrying he’s the next one

To have it end with a gun.

It’s just another one.

Precious red pool split on the white driven snow.

You don’t know, and you don’t care.

There’s no TV coverage here.

No fancy concert, cause it’s nothin’ special,

This is every day murder.

This is the NRA’s bread and butter.

America ran out of tears for the Chicago mother.

Twinkle lights the block, jingle bells tickle, Christmas Spirit spreads like frost on window pane, warm like cocoa in my cup. ~Sophia Tesch

American Dreamer

American Dreamers

I don't hate you, I just wish my happiness over yours. I don't hate you, I just love my money more than you and your ability to eat food or be healthy. I don't hate you, I just don't want you to live next to me. I don't hate you, I don't hate anyone, because I am a wonderful person. And I say that to myself when I fall asleep and dream oblivious of the bomb that incinerates a man thousands of miles away.

A Mother's hug

Warm, with the scent of soap.

All better now.

My Midnight Run

My Midnight Run

Moonlight dances on my skin,
My hooves pound soft ground,
Grass whips my ankles as I sprint free,
No rider to hold me, no man owns me.
Cool wind's caress intertwines with my hot deep breaths.
I run to my horizon-- my final rest.

R U

Txt Messaging?

Times they change, we must adapt.

A few characters take the place of a paragraph.

Short retort bursts volley between you and me.

The joy :)

The tears :(

Sent in brief moments we seize

Shared with a colon and parenthesis.

Music plays, little lights blink from a tiny machine.

Can the true depth of my thoughts be captured on this small screen?

R u able 2 c what I mean?

What happened to the written word?

At times it all seems quite absurd.

Language and sentiment has become

Abbreviated symbols under your thumb.

Thanks Facebook friend J.Washington for the inspiration.
Welcome sunshine glows friendly from
the bloom, a secret lust desire nibbles at the edges.
