It can be difficult to embrace, and yet to live with peace of mind one must embrace, the reality that a moment is a moment and it will never exist again. There is a saying that you can't stand in the same river twice because the water is forever moving and causing the river bed to forever shift and change. So many people use large amounts of time and energy trying to live forever in a previously lived moment in time. This often happens because they had a moment of impact in their life and they spend the rest of the time living trying to hold onto it. It is impossible. Like holding mist it will not stay still no matter how hard someone tries to make it do so.
In day trading there is something called a "revenge trade". A revenge trade is when someone tries to trade a stock again, thinking this time it will be successful to make up for a missed or bad trade that already happened.

Some people revenge date--that's not real I am just playing off the revenge trading thing-- but they go back to the same person who is no longer vibing with them thinking somehow things will magically start working, though it's obvious their moment has passed for whatever reason.

No matter the situation or moment the key to living a happy life filled with positive results is to read the moment clearly and make the most of it. Regardless of what that moment shows you. There is so much undue pain experienced by forcing something that isn't there. By attempting to have a "do over" and we don't get do overs.

The best thing to do is to:
  • Accept what happened.
  • Take what lessons you can from it.
  • Find the joy in the current moment.
  • Make the best choice with accurate information from what  the current environment is reflecting to you.
You cannot accurately assess the current moment if you are filtering it through the dirty lens of the past. An overlay of a previous time or an unsubstantiated hope for the future. These failed assessments cost us and cause a stumble that keeps us farther from where we wish to be. We must let go of how we wish it was, in order to make the most of now. Now is all that matters. Now is where the power is. Now shapes the path forward.
